Jean-Claude Therrien Pinette joins the SEIZE03 team as Senior Advisor – Indigenous and Government Relations

Jean-Claude Therrien Pinette is a committed leader and a seasoned strategist in the fields of Indigenous governance, negotiation, and community mobilization. An Innu from Uashat mak Mani-utenam, he has more than twenty-five years of experience within political, community, and governmental organizations, where he has implemented innovative and inclusive approaches to strengthen the capacities of First Nations.

His professional path includes key roles such as Chief of Staff to the Chief at Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (2019–2024), Chief of Staff at the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (2017–2019), and Director of the Rights and Territory Protection Office of his community.

He has also been involved in numerous projects aimed at improving individual and collective well-being through initiatives supporting children, youth, and families in our communities.

Jean-Claude is recognized for his ability to mobilize communities around meaningful projects, facilitate intersectoral partnerships, and promote governance rooted in cultural and territorial realities. He is the co‑founder of Wapikoni Mobile, an emblematic youth creation and expression initiative, and has served on several national committees related to health, suicide prevention, and citizen engagement.

Trained in anthropology, administration, and mental health, he combines a strong academic foundation with exceptional field experience. He has represented Indigenous youth at both provincial and national levels, notably as part of the National Youth Council of the Assembly of First Nations, and has participated in federal‑provincial working tables on Indigenous relations.

Jean-Claude is also an experienced communicator. His approach is deeply human, collaborative, and action‑oriented, making him an inspiring trainer and a facilitator of lasting change.
